In years gone by when it was required to elevate the eyebrows a substantial scar was made across the top of the head, the forehead undermined and the skin excised. Now using an endoscope and via small incisions above the hairline the same or better results can be achieved. The forehead can be slid upwards rather like the visor of a helmet and suitably locked in place for two weeks such that it adheres in its new position and there is no skin removal.
Brow lift
It is an elegant technique which provides a pleasing appearance making the individual look much more awake and alert. In the relaxed mode the low brow can give an appearance of anger, irritation or tiredness which can be alleviated. Individuals who have previously had upper eyelid reductions or particularly where the lateral part of the eyebrow has dropped are particularly suitable for this procedure.
The sensory nerves to the forehead are preserved and protected by examining them endoscopically but some loss of sensation can be expected for 3-4 months post-operatively before it recovers. The recovery of sensation can be heralded by some itching.
